PLAYERS
Biography: Two-year starter awarded all-conference honors since his sophomore season and named to numerous All-American teams last year.
Junior totals included 50 receptions/598 yards/8 TDs after he had 33/373/1 the prior year.
Positives: Athletic pass-catching tight end who is best in motion. Fluid releasing off the line into pass routes, flexible and can adjust as a receiver or blocker. Flexible and gets vertical or reaches backwards to pull the pass from the air. Occasionally lines up as a slot receiver and immediately gets to top speed. Uses his frame to shield away defenders. Smooth, extends his hands and consistently makes the reception away from his frame. Terrific field vision and overall awareness. Sells routes and stays low on exit, positioning himself to make the reception. Good focus and concentration in his all-around game. Makes tough catches and holds onto the ball after taking big hits. Bends his knees, plays with leverage and blocks with good lean. Effective downfield blocker who seals the running lanes open. Negatives: Marginal strength as an in-line blocker and will struggle moving linebackers from the action. Runs well yet lacks downfield speed. Analysis: Allen is a terrific athlete and natural pass catcher at the tight end position, possessing soft and reliable hands. He lacks ideal measurables for the position but will be effective in a system that keeps him in motion prior to the snap. Allen offers a large amount upside and will be very productive on the NFL level if he continues to progress on the field. Projection: 2nd ![]() Dannie Walls/Icon SMI
